On May 25, 2020, the Kenya Bureau of Standards issued the Legal Notice No. 78 of April 28, 2020, concerning the Standards (Verification of Conformity to Standards and Other Applicable Regulations) Order.

This regulation lays down the provisions of verification of conformity to standards and other regulations whereas it shall apply to all products imported into Kenya.

In regards to category "automotive" the following documentation is required:

1. Industrial raw materials excluding materials specified by the Council, completely knocked down kits for road vehicles, machinery and industrial spares imported by registered manufacturers for own use:

(a) Certificate of registration of the manufacturer or assembler issued by the Bureau or any other regulatory agency responsible for regulating manufactured products and (b) Certificate of analysis or material safety datasheet for raw materials

12. New road vehicles and new mobile equipment: Manufacturer’s warranty or type approval

Proposed date of entry into force: 2 June 2020
